Former Penn State and Arizona State guard Jermaine Marshall was found dead while playing overseas with France’s Hermine Nantes Basket, the club announced Friday. He was 28 years old.

While no additional information has been released about Marshall’s death, Nantes has requested that its scheduled

game against ADA Blois on Saturday be postponed by the Ligue Nationale de Basket.

Per EuroHoops, Marshall had filled out his passport with professional stops in the leagues of Italy, Greece, Netherlands and Finland before landing in France. Before his professional career, Marshall spent the first three

years of his collegiate career at Penn State, then transferred to Arizona State for his senior season.

Marshall steadily improved through his Penn State career, going from just 2.5 points and 9.0 minutes per game his freshman year to averaging 15.3 points per game and receiving an All-Big Ten honorable mention during his junior

year. The highlight of Marshall’s career might have come during ASU’s rivalry game against Arizona in which he went off for 29 points in a double-overtime 69-66 win over a No. 2-ranked Wildcats team.

The Etters, Pennsylvania, native later landed in Tempe, Arizona, as a graduate transfer, where he made an

immediate impact in the Sun Devils’ backcourt. He ranked second in both minutes (31.7) and points (15.1) per game

on a team that made the NCAA tournament for the first time in five years.                                 powered by yahoo sports
